Energy impact evaluation of different low-GWP alternatives to replace R134a in a beverage cooler. Experimental analysis and optimization for the pure refrigerants R152a, R1234yf, R290, R1270, R600a and R744

Due to the entry into force in 2014 of European F-Gas Regulation n° 517/2014 and subsequent Kigali amendment, phase-out medium high-GWP refrigerants has speeded up all refrigeration fields. The effect on plug-in or stand-alone systems meant that other environmentally friendly must replace R134a with low ultra-low GWP maintaining same operating conditions reducing energy consumption. Extended examples these fluids are hydrocarbons R600a R290 inorganic fluid R744 (CO2). However, there alternatives HFCs R152a R1234yf hydrocarbon R1270 have hardly been analysed can make a positive contribution this sector. Accordingly, work aims evaluate behaviour commercial beverage cooler experimentally when it is optimised six HFC R134a: R152a, R1234yf, R290, R1270, R744. Results demonstrated reduce 27.5%, 26.3%, 13.7%, 3.9% 1.2%, respectively, while use increases usage 4.1%.
